OS: Java

Question/Problem Description
A connection made with with an invalid SID using the Connect for JDBC Oracle driver does not display the incorrect SID name in the error message.

The Oracle database is configured to treat a SID as a ServiceName

A connection to the Oracle server specifying ServiceName=<invalid>, the error message is complete with the actual ServiceName specified in the error message.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Error Message
Defect NumberDefect 31092
Enhancement Number
Cause
When a connection is made where you send the SID=<invalid>, the server is seeing ServiceName=<invalid>. This causes the "ORA-12514 Connection refused, the specified service name ({0}) was not recognized by the Oracle server". Since the error message refers to a ServiceName, our driver at that point uses the URL to get the ServiceName. Since the ServiceName was not specified, you get the () in the error message.
Resolution
Fixed in hot fix 5.1.4.000316
