Question/Problem Description
When using Connect for XML Converters, blank numeric fields alway displays quotes in place of no value. This makes the numeric field apper as a string causing confusion within an application.
Steps to ReproduceThe problem occurs when the field contains no value. The Json shows the value as quotes.

Cause
The only way to represent the contents of an empty XML element is with an empty string in JSON, whether the element is numeric or not.
Resolution
The best solution is to force specific values to be strings with the string= URL property. This parameter accepts wildcards. Set string=* to make everything always a string, or string=Outer-node/inner-node/* to make all of the components of inner-node strings.
