Can't connect to Cassandra with the Connect for JDBC Cassandra driver

Clarifying Information
Connections with third party driver succeed without error.
Error Message[DataDirect][Cassandra JDBC Driver][Cassandra]The server failed to respond to the connection request. Please verify the host and port specified. The non-thrift based Cassandra client port should be used, which on default Cassandra installs is 9042.

Cause
The local schema files are corrupted or not up to date.
Resolution
Delete the local schema files and make a new connection. This will rebuild the local schema allowing connections to succeed.
