Database: Oracle Service Cloud
Application: All supported applications
Question/Problem Description
Cannot query the OSC ANSWER table with the Connect for ODBC Oracle Service Cloud driver after adding a custom field.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
The ANSWER table contains a column name that is a reserve word.
For example running a select * from a table with a column named "DEFAULT" returns the error:
[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle Service Cloud driver][Oracle Service Cloud]near "default": syntax error in statement [select * from RIGHTNOW.ANSWER]"
Error Message[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle Service Cloud driver][Oracle Service Cloud]near "xxxxxxx": syntax error in statement [select xxxxxxx]"
Defect Number
Enhancement Number
Cause
This is caused by Oracle Service Cloud incorrectly allowing the user to create a field that uses a reserved keyword for its name.

Resolution
Rename the column with something that is not a database reserve word.

Workaround
Notes
Creating a column named DEFAULT as a standard field will return an error with reference to DEFAULT being a reserved word.  The column can be created as a CUSTOM FIELD․ This should not be aloud. Oracle has been notified of the issue.
