7.1 subscription based licensing provides a XXODBC.LIC file (XX=DD or IV) on ESD for customers. The .LIC file is set to expire on a fixed date when the subscription ends. The user first needs to run the installer as an EVAL and then replace the default installed XXODBC.LIC file with the one from ESD to make it a licensed installation.

8.0 subscription based licensing provides a License key on ESD ( not a .LIC file ).This key is used by a user to run the installer and directly perform a licensed installation using the key. The key used during the installation automatically creates a .LIC file which is set to expire on the subscription end date.
