For example the error when the database is located in EST timezone and user wants to return the time in UTC.

The problem was within the application, not the drive

To troubleshoot the issue use any simple JDBC SQL client that allows a query to be run against the database.  Progress includes a client with the installation of the JDBC drivers. The test application is titles "TestForJDBC". Refer to the documentation for additional information on the JDBC client.
