Resolution
The Connect for JDBC drivers do not explicitly do any date time handling with Japanese Imperial Calendar. The only way the driver is exposed to the Japanese Imperial Calendar is if Java's Calender.get() API returns instance of Japanese Imperial Calendar (which will happen if ja_JP_JP locale is specified). This means all the conversions and handling of date time values for the DataDirect drivers are handled by underlying JAVA implementation. Knowing of the Imperial Calendar change happening in May 2019, we are hopeful that Oracle and OpenJDK will provide an update to their Java implementations for this handling.

At this time we do not expect any drivers changes will be needed.
