Resolution

8.0 and later: NOTE: Before making any changes, stop all applications that are using the ODBC driver. Once the license is updated start all applications using the driver to ensure the updated license is picked up.

7.1: NOTE: The subscription license file can be obtained by contacting Sales/COM, if it is not available on the Download Center/ESD website.
Workaround
Alternate option for upgrading the 8.0 subscription license on Unix/Linux:
  • Make a backup of the existing installation just in case of issues.
  • Run the installer using an appropriate license key (control# or IPE Key) and install into a temporary directory (not the existing evaluation installation)
  • Copy the license file (IVODBC.LIC for 32-bit or DDODBC.LIC for 64-bit) from the new, temporary installation, to replace the existing evaluation/subscription installation's license file
  • Make sure the permissions match up for the old and new license files.
  • Delete the temporary installation and backup of the original installation.
