Question/Problem Description
Java NoClassDefFound error connecting to Salesforce occurs with the Progress DataDirect for ODBC for Salesforce driver.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Error Message[ODBC Salesforce driver][ODBCSales Force]java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ddtek/sforcecloud/sql/JniCommunicator
Defect Number
Enhancement Number
Cause
In this instance the installation had been modified to contain version 7.1 and 8.0 drivers in the same directory. The Salesforce drivers also use the sforce.jar file found in the <DriverHome>\java\lib directory. The 7.1 and 8.0 versions will have the same name, but are different files. These installation must be kept in seperate folders.
Resolution
The best solution is to upgrade to Salesforce driver version 8.0 and only use that driver.
If the older driver version 7.1 is needed then keep the Salesforce driver installations in seperate folders
Workaround
