Question/Problem Description
Queries for TIMESTAMP values with time only fails with error with the Connect for JDBC Impala driver
The timestamp does not contain a date, only a time value

Cause
That is a server bug.  
Resolution
The driver is now modified to work around the issue driver by detecting that a string length of 8 means only the time value is in the string and then add today() as the date part of the value.  

Fixed in hot fix 5.1.4.000062
