Question/Problem Description
Queries with an SOQL length over 10K in length to Salesforce using the Connect for JDBC Salesforce driver may result in the error "The internally generated remote query is too long."

Cause
The driver has a hard coded limit for the max size of a SOQL statement that is set to 10k. This was once in line with the max size enforced by Salesforce, but Salesforce has increased this limit to 20k.
Resolution
The driver has been modified to pass SOQL statements of up to 20,000 characters in length, the default maximum length of SOQL statements defined by salesforce.com.
Fixed in hot fix 5.1.4.0189.
