EnvironmentProduct: Connect for ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver
Version: 07.16.0265
OS: all supported platforms
Database: Oracle
Application: all supported applications
Question/Problem Description
A SQLDescribeParam call returns a different parameter size for a parameter that contains a SUBSTR argument, depending whether extra brackets are used around the question mark in the argument or not. For example, (SUBSTR (?,1,512)) returns 999 while SUBSTR ((?),1,512) returns 512.

The issue is seen with hot fix 265, while 999 is returned for both when using an older hot fix like hot fix 199.

Resolution
Fixed in hot fix 07.16.0270. The same parameter size of 999 is again returned whether extra brackets are used around the question mark or not.
Refer to "Connect and Connect64 for ODBC hot fix download and install instructions" for instructions on how to download and install the hot fix.
