Question/Problem Description
Slow performance notice after upgrading to the 8.0 Progress DataDirect Oracle Wire Protocol driver.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Upgrade from driver version 7.1 to 8.0
Connecting to Oracle 12 which has Advanced Security enabled.

Defect Number
Enhancement Number
Cause
There was a change made to the 8.0 Progress DataDirect Oracle Wire Protocol driver that enables Oracles Advanced Security by default. Oracle Advanced Security encripts the communication to the database and this can cause a slight performance hit. Oracle Enterprise Edition with the Advanced Security option require advanced security to connect to the database. The default behavior of the driver was changed for a better customer experience when connecting to the newer versions of Oracle. (Connections won't fail because advanced security is not used).

The 7.1 Oracle driver had this feature turned off by default.
Resolution
Encruption Level and Data Integrity Level can be tunred off (rejected) though the latest versions of the Oracle database require it so connections will fail. We do not recommend turning off Oracle Advanced Security.

For information on setting the driver connect options Encruption Level and Data Integrity Level refer to the driiver documentation.
