Article Number000118624
EnvironmentProduct: Connect for JDBC Greenplum driver
Version: 5.1.4.0180
OS: All supported platforms
Database: Greenplum
Application: All supported applications
Question/Problem Description
The Connect for JDBC Greenplum driver is forcing a sequential scan on tables with an "_" in the name.
Steps to ReproduceCreate a table "hello_world"
From a JDBC application, call getTables(null, null, "\hello_world", null)
A review of the packet trace will show the query is doing a "LIKE" tablename.
Clarifying Information
The driver forces a sequential scan on the tables that had an underscore "_" in their names.
The sequential scan on the tables also occurs when escaping the underscore "//_".
The problem is also seen on the Connect for JDBC PostgreSQL and Connect for JDBC Redshift drivers.
Error Message
Defect NumberDefect XDBC-10000
Enhancement Number
Cause
All drivers in the PostgreSQL family were treating the escaped underscore as a wildcard causing the query to perform a "like tablename".
Resolution
Fixed in hot fixes:
   Greenplum Driver Version: 5.1.4.000182
   Postgrace Driver Version: 5.1.4.000148
   Redshift Driver Version: 5.1.4.000113
