URL NameUnhandled-sql-type-error-is-received-with-the-Oracle-JDBC-driver-when-overloaded-stored-procedures-exist
Article Number000182802
EnvironmentProduct: Connect for JDBC Oracle driver
Version: 5.1.4.000241 (F000232.U000096)
OS: java
Database: Oracle
Application: all supported applications
Question/Problem Description
The below error is received when calling a stored procedure. The error is not seen with the v 4.2.1.030277 (F044269.U015818) driver.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Error Message[DataDirect][Oracle JDBC Driver]Unhandled sql type
Defect NumberDefect 20137
Enhancement Number
Cause
This issue is seen when overloaded stored procedures exist. In the v 5.1, when incorrect data types are used, the driver will check if there is a stored procedure with the same name and use that one. In this case, a stored procedure with 16 parameters was first used, but incorrect data types are specified and therefore the driver started using the other stored procedure with the same name that has 18 parameters. Because only 16 parameters are specified, the error is received.
Resolution
Fixed in hot fix 5.1.4.000286 (F000250.U000108).
Refer to "Connect for JDBC hot fix download and install instructions" for instructions on how to download and install the hot fix.

The driver now behaves the same as in v 4.1: no other stored procedure will be used by the driver when the parameters are specified incorrectly.
Workaround
Make sure that all parameters are bound correctly.
