Resolution
The Connect for ODBC 5.1 SQL Server driver (ivmsss) can connect to SQL Server 2000. It is not certified to connect to SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
SQL Server 2008 is supported starting from the Connect for ODBC 5.3 driver while SQL Server 2008 R2 is supported from the Connect for ODBC 6.1 version onward. Both 5.3 and 6.1 driver versions support SQL Server 2000.
