Question/Problem Description

When connecting to Oracle 12cR2 using branded Oracle ODBC Wire Protocol driver, the following error occurred:
"[ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol".

The resolution of the problem is given in the following article: " No matching authentication protocol" error occurred when connecting to Oracle 12cR2 " .

By looking at the resolution of the problem given in the above article, the above error message did not look to be an appropriate error message in this situation. The error message needs to be enhanced for this situation so that the users can resolve this problem by themselves without opening a case. 
Also branding install guide for Oracle ODBC wire protocol driver 8.0.2  needs to be updated regarding the resolution.

Defect XDBC-15360 has been opened to update the branding install guide for Oracle ODBC Wire Protocol driver regarding the resolution of the problem.
Fixes for these defects are not available yet.
