URL Nameerror-calling-sqldriverconnect-with-dsn-name-in-curly-braces
Article Number000129156
EnvironmentProduct: Progress DataDirect for ODBC
Version: 8.0
Product: Connect/Connect64 for ODBC
Version: 7.1
OS: All supported platforms
Database: All supported databases
Application: All supported applications
Question/Problem Description
It is allowed/recommended to use curly brackets to enclose values in a connection string.  This works for any connection attribute except for DSN.

This connection string fails:
DSN={mydsn};UID={test};PWD={secret}
This succeeds:
DSN=mydsn;UID={test};PWD={secret}
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Error MessageData source name not found and no default driver specified
Defect NumberDefects XDBC-15573, XDBC-16822
Enhancement Number
Cause
The Driver Manager was treating the curly braces as part of the DSN name.
Resolution
Fixed in hot fix 07.16.0368 (U0335) and 08.02.0408 (U0365).
Refer to article Connect and Connect64 for ODBC hot fix download and install instructions for instructions on how to download and install the hot fix.
Workaround
Leave the curly braces off of the DSN value.
DSN=mydsn;UID={test};PWD={secret}

When using a data source name (DSN) that requires curly braces, use SQLConnect instead of SQLDriverConnect.
