Question/Problem Description
When passing the setting SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION=12a in the sqlnet.ora file and then trying to make a connection with the Connect for ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver, the connection fails.

Cause
The Connect for ODBC 7.1 driver does not support connection to an Oracle database configured with SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION=12a in the sqlnet.ora file
Resolution
There are no plans to add the support for Oracle 12a protocol with Connect for ODBC 7.1 Oracle Wire Protocol driver. 
Support for Oracle 12a protocol is planned in an upcoming 8.0 hot fix.
As of Aug 2018, the hot fix is scheduled to be released in Q4 2018, although dates and content of the release are subject to change.
