Information

URL Namelogintimeout-seems-to-have-no-effect-when-using-oracle-odbc-wire-protocol-driver-v8-0
Article Number000138211
EnvironmentProduct : Progress DataDirect for ODBC for Oracle Wire Protocol Driver
Version : 08.02.2083
OS : Windows
Database : Oracle
Application : All supported applications
Question/Problem Description
When the connection parameter LoginTimeout is set to 5, and host name of the database is set to a location which is unreachable,
the test connection still takes more than 15 secs before it come back with an error. It should have come back with an error in 5 seconds.

Steps to Reproduce1. Set up a DSN for an Oracle database, but set the Host name to a database which is down.
2. Do a test connection.
3. Change the DSN setting "Login Timeout" to "5" and repeat the test.
We would hope to see the connection error in 5 seconds. But we see the error come back after 15-20 seconds.
