Question/Problem Description
A significant performance difference can be seen between the 7.0 and 7.1 versions of the Connect for ODBC DB2 driver. The 7.1 driver may be found to be as much as 2 times slower or more.

Cause
Enabling asynchronous communication can degrade performance in some instances. In this particular instance, the application was attempting to enable the SQL_ATTR_ASYNC_ENABLE connection attribute. Version 7.0 does not implement this feature, but version 7.1 of the driver does.
Resolution
Do not enable asynchronous communication. If the application cannot be changed, this behavior can be overridden by setting the following hidden connect option:

EnableAsyncSupport=0
