EnvironmentProduct: Connect for JDBC Google Big Query Driver
Version: 6.0
O/S: All Supported
Database: Google Big Query
Application: N/A
Question/Problem Description
The ConfigOptions value for VarcharLength for the Google Big Query driver does not get reflected in the metadata.

Testing retrieval of metadata for table columns when VarcharLength is set to something other than the default still shows the default 65535 length for STRING columns for DatabaseMetaData.getColumns()
Steps to ReproduceConfigure the ConfigOptions "VarcharLength" connection option to a value other than the default 65535 and then call DatabaseMetaData.getColumns() to get the metadata.

Error Message
Defect NumberXDBC-18093
Enhancement Number
Cause
When VarcharLength is set to a value other than the default value (65535), the setLength() method is called which updates the length data member of the meta native field.

Its not only length but precision and scale which have to be set to a new value as getColumns() relies on this.

The driver will call alterMethod() is now instead of setLength() to update this value.
